6. The Long Bad Tuesday ~ 1

When I first started The Nile Journals I thought they’d all be stand alone  strips – the fact that each page was supposed to be a separate day in Mr. Nile’s life pretty much dictated that. It took me only about a month of actually working on the series to discover how wrong I was, resulting in the twenty-three part epic that begins here.

Transcript

Week 6: Tuesday Feverish. Barely conscious. And yet somehow still able to narrate…

Spooky: Nile!? This is your last chance!
Spooky: Right. Break it down.

Ignatz: Nile?
Spooky: Nile, are you okay?
Nile: -yet somehow still able to narrate…

Week 6: Tuesday Spooky? Is that you? Why can’t I feel the plot? What’s happening?

Ignatz: He doesn’t sound good.
Spooky: I’ve seen this with Fictionals before. It’s Meta-flu.

Ignatz. You’re not going to catch it, are you?
Spooky: Nah. I got vaccinated when I was a kid.

Ignatz: How come Nile didn’t?
Spooky: He’s not as used to being real as I am. Probably just forgot to write it into his back-story.

Week 6: Tuesday Am I dreaming this? Is this what a nightmare is like?

Spooky: Nile? Listen, we’re going to get you to a doctor, okay?
Ignatz: Um… that may not be possible.
Spooky: What? Why?
Nile: -this? Is this what a nightmare is like?

Ignatz: It seems an army of zombies has surrounded your building. And for some reason they all look like George Bush Junior.
Zombie1: Brains!
Zombie2: Brrraaaaiiiins!
Zombie3: Morrrre pretzels!
