There probably are too many talking animals in webcomics, but I’ll admit the critters are rather hard to resist. After writing The Nile Journals I went on to do two more series that featured talking animals on a regular basis, so clearly I’m as susceptible to their charms as the next man.

Spooky: Um… was that a yes or a no?
Me: No. He can’t understand you.

Me: He’s just a normal cat now. I rewrote him.
Spooky: What the-?
Me: There are too many talking animals in webcomics, don’t you think?
Spooky: Who said that? Where are you!?
Me: He’ll be better this way. More original.
Nile? Is that you?
Me: No. Not Nile.
