A hypercomic can be thought of as a comic with a multi-cursal narrative structure. The choices made by the reader as they navigate through the story may influence the sequence of events, the outcome of events or the point of view through which events are seen.
Curated by leading comics expert Paul Gravett, the Hypercomics exhibition responds to the function, history and architecture of the Pumphouse Gallery. It makes use of the building’s unusual architecture to weave a story whose outcome is influenced by the movements and interactions of the visiting audience.
