58. A Fate Worse

First Year essays probably aren’t actually that bad, but I wouldn’t know because, thankfully, I don’t actually have to mark any. Marking in general is fine once you get started (and even better once you get finished). But actually getting started is the bit I struggle with and hence, so does Lemrin.

Transcripts

Brother Gone: An essay marking deadline? Are you insane!?
Brother Gone: The only deadline you should be concerned about is that of your own immediate demise at my hands!
Lermin: Oof, don’t tempt me. Have you ever had to read a First Year essay?
Lermin: Talk about a fate worse than death.
Brother Gone: Enough! Enough of your nonsense words!
Brother Gone: Your end comes now at the edge of my blade!
Lermin: Okay, okay, fine. Let’s do this then. I see you’re still wearing a naughtstone ward.
Lermin: By any chance would that be a slideblade stone you’ve added to the mix?
Brother Gone: Ah-hah! Now at last you realise your doom!
Brother Gone: Brother Gone will not fall prey to the same trickery twice.
Brother Gone: With these two charms working in unison, no spell cast nor any weapon forged can touch me!
Lermin: Yep, looks like you’ve thought of everything then.
Lermin: I mean, unless… no.
Brother Gone: Unless? Unless what?
Lermin: No, no, it’s pretty unlikely.
Lermin: I wouldn’t worry about it.
