And that’s Solid Metal Override done! Thank you very much to everyone who has read and supported the series over the last four-and-a-bit years it’s been running at E-merl and Webtoon.
The series began as an opportunity to put all my various sci-fi obsessions into a blender, just to see what might emerge when I hit “blend.” The resulting series is probably the closest I’ve come to writing a good old-fashioned sitcom. Working in the short, mostly self-contained narrative arcs of each of SMO’s chapters has also proved to be a really fun set of writing challenges.
Ultimately, I guess the comic was just a story about people getting together to tell each other stories. And also, robots. Lots and lots of robots. So please raise a glass to all the regulars at Solid Metal Override. I’m sure Solace will still be there keeping the lights on should you fancy paying a return visit at some point down the road.
For those of you fearing that next Tuesday you might be bereft of your usual webcomic hangout, then fear not. Over the last year I’ve been hard at work at a brand new webcomic serial that will be debuting next Tuesday at E-merl and Webtoon. So keep your eyes peeled for The Occasional Quests of Lemrin Spur – bursting through a portal on a screen near you on Tuesday 29th July.
