21. Redundant Lives

Insert “I was a comic creator” joke here.

I was a skin cream salesman.
I was almost an architect.

Well… I never actually drew anything or had anyone build anything.

But inside – in my head – I built whole cathedrals of the mind. Designs too grand to ever be contained in brick and steel and stone.

And now… now all I have is mind. And the buildings in my head grow ever grander, ever greater.

And I know, deep in my heart of hearts, that I will always be remembered for the things I never built.

I made bespoke origami hats for poodles.
