My notes reveal this strip to have been inspired by listening to a bit of Nick Cave, which is something I was probably doing quite a lot of around the time of Brain Fist’s creation.
There’s nothing in my notes about the strip’s creation to support this, but I can’t help feeling there’s a bit of an “Ah Pook Is Here” influence on this one.

Re-reading the strip, I wondered if perhaps I was ripping off “Thou Shalt Always Kill” by Dan Le Sac & Scroobius Pip with this one. But nope! Turns out the strip came out a year before the song. Phew!
